About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Honk Kong to Shanghai

Hello! I am traveling to Honk Kong from Japan for a couple of days then transferring to Shanghai for 2 days from there I will fly back home to the United States. Am I eligible for the 240-hour visa free transit? Can I transfer from Hong Kong to Shanghai by train, or does it need to be by airplane?

Carla, your itinerary, under the assumption that you have presented your itinerary correctly, is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit, however, you cannot use a train to travel from Hong Kong to Shanghai, unfortunately. It has to be done by plane. Have a nice journey.
