Donghuamen

Can I buy tickets online and enter via Donghuamen? Can I take a taxi to this gate or what subway should I take?

Yes you can buy online on wechat mini program 故宫博物院 with a Chinese number or you can book on this page if you don't have a Chinese number:

Meridian Gate is the only entrance but you can go to Donghuamen first and walk along the palace wall to Meridian Gate to enter which saves time. You can take metro line 1 or 8 to Jinyu Hutong, then walk westward along Donghuamen Dajie to Donghuamen.
