About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Different flights

Hi! I bought a plane ticket from Bangkok, Thailand to Shanghai (9/february/2025) and another one from Shanghai to Busan, South Korea (13/february/2025) both are different purchases and different airlines. Can I apply for the 144 transit visa?

Francisca, your itinerary is definitely and undeniably eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Shanghai area and you do not need any kind of visa. Also, I encourage you to use correct terminology because this is not 144 transit visa, but 144 hour visa free transit, so there is no any visa of any kind.

Traveling on separate tickets and using unrelated airlines is definitely allowed. It is the itinerary that matters. Your itinerary is fine and you are good to go. Have a nice journey.
