About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Chengdu

144 hr visa free transit but different entry and exit ports?

Hi,

My route are:

Bangkok ==> Chengdu (TFU) ===> 144 hours in Chengdu ===>Chengdu (CTU)===>Beijing (3hrs transit) ===>London

My questions are:
1. Can I enter via TFU, but leave via CTU? Both airports are in Chengdu.
2. When leaving Chengdu (CTU), can I stop over Beijing for my connecting flight to London?

Many thanks

No, unfortunately, your itinerary is not eligible for any kind of visa free transit schemes, 144 hour visa free transit scheme included. It is not the problem the change of airports in Chengdu because this is perfectly allowed, but the problem is your landing in Beijing after Chengdu.

Simply speaking this is not allowed under 144 hour visa free transit. You cannot have two mainland Chinese destinations in a row or better to say, the immediate points before and after your mainland Chinese destination, Chengdu in your case, have to be in two different countries or eligible territories (A - B - C).

Your itinerary is not considered a transit under 144 hour visa free transit, so you will have to obtain a Chinese tourist visa obtained in advance if you plan to retain your current itinerary or you will have to alter your itinerary to look for example:

Bangkok - Chengdu - Hong Kong - Beijing - London

Or something similar...

I am sorry for bringing you unfavorable news, but better to be informed than sorry.
