About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Five day partnership visit to a University

Good afternoon! I am intending to visit my colleagues at a partner University in Suzhou in October this year. Am I allowed to do this trip visa-free? Thanks for your help.

Yes, you can use 144 hour visa free transit for all purposes including different meetings, visits, business conventions and many other different stuff. Also, it is a good detail that Suzhou is located within Jiangsu province that makes, along with Zhejiang province and the Shanghai city common Shanghai transit zone where you are allowed to stay and explore on your own.

You should just have in mind to create an eligible itinerary where the immediate points before and after Shanghai transit zone have to be in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). In other words, something like this:

London - Shanghai - South Korea - London
London - Shanghai - Hong Kong - London

Also, you are not allowed to have two mainland Chinese stops in a row.

Now, when you know, you can start planning your visit.
