shenzhen transfer?

However, because I arrive in Shenzhen at 17:10 and my connecting  flight leaves at 00:10 the next morning (actually to Bangkok, not Vientiane)-just after midnight - some other flight info says its an overnight transfer and I might need a transit visa! (actually to Bangkok, not Vientiane). I contacted them and they could not answer instead rather unhelpfully telling me to contact the Chinese embassy because things change! I tend to believe your answer still applies (i.e., no visa required because it's a 24hr visa-free transfer, but can you confirm? beccause their response is unsettling.Hello, I am a UK citizen (Uk passport) flying from Heathrow to Shenzhen Bao’an Airport, then after 7 hours flying on with the same Shenzhen Airlines carrier with baggage checked through to Vientiane (Wattay) airport in Laos where I have a multi-entry visa. Do I need to get a transit visa please for Shenzhen? - I do not have to leave the transit area to collect luggage.
