About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

TMOV - 20h transiting in PEK - Vietnam passport holder

Hi, I’m from Vietnam and I will travel to Korea and come back to Vietnam with a 20-hour stopover in Beijing. Am I eligible for TMOV? I have read all the information regarding Vietnam but nothing mentioned TMOV. Is Vietnamese eligible to apply for TMOV? If it is, what is the procedure? Do I need to apply for the transit visa before landing Beijing? I really want to get out and have the city sightseeing. Thank you.

If Beijing is your only stop within mainland China and your entire transit time in Beijing is 20 hours long, you will almost certainly be granted a temporary entry permit upon landing in Beijing. Also, you do not need any kind of visa for your journey because you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit.

In other words, upon your landing in Beijing the first thing to do is to approach 24/144 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport and to explore the city. Here you will present your flight tickets and your hotel accommodation booking if you plan to stay in the hotel overnight. This application is free of any charge. When your permit is granted you will cross the immigration and head to the city to explore it on your own.

By the way, I can see that you use acronym TMOV, but it is TWOV - transit without a visa. Enjoy your journey.
