About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Eligible Route?

I hold a US passport. I will be in the Philippines for two weeks before going to Shanghai. I'm looking into doing this route: Philippines-->Hong Kong-->Shanghai-->Philippines

Does this route work for the 144 hour visa free?
