Double Entry L visa

Is it possible to get two single-entry visas in a row? I work in Mainland China and my work visa is a bout to expire. I plan to go to Malaysia for a few days and apply for a single-entry tourist visa to travel around the Mainland. in July, my brother will come to Hong Kong and I plan to go there to meet him. Later, we plan to travel around the Mainland and together come back to our home country.

Do you think it's okay to apply for two tourist visas in a relatively short period of time? I considered applying for a double-entry visa, but I've read on the Chinese embassy website that as a rule they only issue singly-entry visas if one applies for a visa in a third country.
Thanks so much for your answer

You can give it a try, but it's not guaranteed. Generally, it's not easy to get a China visa in a third country. BTW, the success rate is higher in HK than in Malaysia, but not always.
