Yes. You can show the metro staff your passport to take a free ride and there is a free channel.0

As of November 2024, metro staff did not let me ride for free with a Canadian passport. I called Shenzhen metro, they said only seniors from China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan with proper identifications can ride for free.0
