Michelle, the citizens of Paua New Guinea are allowed to use 24 hour visa free transit and they do not need a visa if their itinerary is eligible. For example, if you are flying form a country A (Japan for example) via country B (this is China) to country C (Malaysia in your case) and if you layover in China is shorter than 24 hours then you do not need any kind of visa or plainly speaking, you will travel through China absolutely visa free. It is just important to have in mind that 3 different countries have to be involved within the itinerary and that your transit time in China is shorter than 24 hours. Basically, this is it.
