I have a Chinese R visa issued in 2023, valid until 2033. Can I enter China now?

Hi
In the past three years, I had the opportunity to work online for a university in China until January 2024, utilizing my 10-Year R Talent Visa. The R Visa is valid until 2033.

My previous employer has said to that my R visa is still valid although I didn't renew my contract with this university for personal and family reasons. There is still some nine years validity left on the R visa and it doesn't have any specific remarks noted on the visa document, in terms of conditions regarding continuous or ongoing employment being necessary for its validity.

However, I may wish to travel to China and even retire there, possibly working part-time for a university depending on what's available. I would like to enquire about the validity of this existing R visa for possible long-term visits to China of 180 days at a time.

My last visit to China was in 2019. I wish to ensure that there will be no issues with my entries, noting that I did not renew my contract. Your timeous comments will be greatly appreciated.

It's still valid. If you have got a R visa, it's not a compulsory to get a work permit in many places after entering China as they will directly issue residence and work permits. If the city you want to live in requests you to get a work permit, then you should have a renewed contract with the university to get one.
