Chinese passport holder leaving china to Hong Kong for layover

I have a green card and a Chinese passport. We have a trip from the US to Beijing. There is a layover from the US to HK and Beijing to HK. Would it be fine on both layovers if we did not leave the airport and the layover was less then 24 hours? HK = Hong Kong
