About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Uk to Hainan for two weeks and then to Shanghai without visa

Hi

If I travel to Hainan for two weeks from the UK under the 30 day visa free plan, and then go to Shanghai for 5 days before heading to Japan, can I do that without a visa given Shanghai has a 144 hour transit policy? Thanks

No, you cannot. However, it is possible if you change your travel plan like this: spend 2 weeks in Hainan and then fly to Hong Kong. After that, fly to Shanghai, stay 5 days and then fly to Japan. This is completely eligible for the Hainan 30-day visa-free access and 144-hour visa-free transit.
