Bring $8000 cash into China

I will visit China in 2 months and will bring $8000 US Dollars cash with me. I am intended to spend all the money in China, Do I need to declare the money at the Chinese Border and Custom when entering China? If I don't declare the money what's going to happen? Do I lose the money exceeding $5000 limit?

Thanks very much.

If you take the money over $5000, you have to declare it or you may be fined.
