Kyla, if you are a citizen of Spain, you do not need any kind of visa to transit or stay in China since Spanish citizens can travel to China visa free for a stay of up to 15 days. So, when you arrive in Shanghai, you will just proceed through immigration and have a decent night rest in a hotel of your choice.
If you are citizen of country that needs a visa, then you will do the following:
- You will print out your flight tickets and your hotel booking confirmation and have those printouts at hand
- Upon landing you will immediately approach transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting them your flight tickets and hotel accommodation confirmation. This application is free of any charge
- When your permit is granted, you will cross the immigration and proceed toward the hotel for a night rest
This is it.
