About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit 56 hrs in beijing

I will fly from Bangkok to Beijing (PKX) with a 7 hr layover in NKG, stay in beijing for 56hrs and then fly to Madrid end destination with a layover in dubai.

1) can I exit NKG? or how will that layover work

2) I am flying into PKX, staying for 56 hours, and then Departing from PEK
Can I still get the transit visa at PKX? Am I allowed to leave through PEK?

3) I booked two seperate tickets, one from bangkok to beijing and another from beijing to madrid. Do I still qualify for the tranist visa?

I am a US citizen

Stepahnie, unfortunately, your itinerary is not eligible for any scheme of visa free transit. You have to be aware that when intending to use 144 hour visa free transit you are not allowed to have two mainland Chinese stops in a row. As you can see, you have Nanjing and after that Beijing. This detail definitely disqualifies you to use any visa free transit scheme and you will have to alter your flight itinerary to fly directly (nonstop) from Bangkok to Beijing or obtain a Chinese visa in advance.

If you alter your itinerary you can use both PEK and PKX airports because they are located within the same transit area or in other words, you are allowed to arrive at PKX and depart from PEK or vice versa. Also, having two separate tickets is definitely eligible as well as it is the use of two unrelated airlines.

In reality, the only obstacle, but a huge one, is your planned landing in Nanjing immediately before your arrival in Beijing. I'm sorry.
