About:Chinese New Year Taboos

why would we not use needles?

The reasoning is strange and my grandma uses needles a lot. I don't understand why. Even though im a boy, I like knitting. Please help me with my question.

Needles are sharp and pointed like scissors or knives and can harm people, so best avoided at such time.
