About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Stop over in Pudong Shangai

Hello there, My dad is from Colombia travelling from Australia back to Colombia. He has 16hrs stop over in Shangai. Does he needs visa if he wants to stay in a hotel that night? He arrives at 7pm and the next flight is next morning at midday. Thanks

Your father does not need any kind of visa because his transit in China is covered by 24 hour visa free transit. He will do the following:

- Before his travel he will print out his flight tickets and hotel booking confirmation and have those printouts at hand
- Immediately upon landing in Shanghai he will approach transit counter where he will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport. Here he will enclose those printouts. This application is free of charge.
- After a short check, his permit will be granted and he will cross the immigration and will have a normal night rest in the hotel.
- He will arrive on time for his next flight out of Shanghai.

That's it.
