144hr transit visa

We are US citizens arriving Shanghai on April 5 at 0925 via London. We stay in Shanghai until Monday April 8 and take a train to Tianjin to board a cruise ship for Japan. Do we qualify for the 144 hr transit visa?

No, you don't. Because 144-hour visa-free transit cannot have two Chinese transit areas in a row. However, if you change Shanghai to Beijing, it is available. Beijing and Tianjin belongs to the same transit area.
