hi, i have a ticket from singapore-pudong and another ticket from pudong-osaka roundtrip. 2 separate tickets. is this eligible for 24 hours visa free transit?

Yes, it definitely is. It is perfectly fine to travel 24 hour visa free transit by using two separate tickets as well as two separate airlines. You should just take care that your entire transit time in China does not exceeds 24 hours. You are strongly advised to print out your flight tickets and to have them at hand ready to present them both in Singapore and in Shanghai. Also, you are informed that the first thing you will do upon landing in Shanghai is to approach transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to cross immigration in order to collect your baggage and to make new check-in for your flight to Osaka. This application is free of charge and here you will present your flight tickets. If you are a citizen of Singapore or Malaysia, then you do not have to bother yourself about all these formalities because the citizens of the mentioned two country can enter China visa free for stays of up to 15 days.
