About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Hainan Visa Free requirement

Has anyone travel on one of the said passports and utilised visa free entry to Haikou or Sanya?
How does it work upon arrival at immigration? Can someone confirm that you only need to show your return flight out of China and accommodation, without any need to register/pre-register with a local travel agency?
Thanks.

I flew from Hong Kong to Haikou on July 6 using a US passport; did not have a visa, nor did I work with any travel agency. I filled out a health form using an electronic kiosk, then appeared before an immigration officer. I told him I wanted to enter using their 30 day visa-free policy. 2 minutes later I was through. They never asked about hotel reservations or even about my return ticket to Hong Kong but I had this info ready. I was a little worried about the whether the process was reliable but it actually went very smoothly. Full disclosure: I am a Chinese-American who speaks Chinese, but I am not sure that this was a factor. They want to promote this visa-free policy to increase tourism so one would assume that they are motivated to make it as painless as possible.

Hi,

I just followed the process as guided by the staff at the airport. There is a dedicated desk in Haikou immigration for the visa free for the “59 countries”, I would take it that it’s the same 59 countries you can find listed on official sites. On going from Hainan into the mainland, this is strictly forbidden and you will be reminded by staff at immigration that it isn’t permitted and you shouldn’t do it, Hainan is the only place you can visit and you can only exit to an international destination such as HK.

FULL ALERT: I ALREADY WASTED AIRPLANE Ticket because it is not direct flight for my 144 hour stay (I am fully aware the the Hainan - 30 - days is very different) however just let you guys know it is not the immigration refused me, it is the airlines staff at your departure airport who has less updated information who can refute you; check your direct flight regulation; check if you can do HongKong to Hainan then Hainan back to Hong Kong because crucially a lot of airlines Hong Kong as a transfer point if we can not go back to Hong Kong then we can not use Hong Kong as a transfer point
