2 Questions - on same topic

Q1, I arrive in T2 at Pudong Int Airport at 0800 and need to transfer to T1 for an afternoon flight to Singapore - do I need a 24 hour visa to claim luggage and transfer terminals?
Q2, I will return to Pudong 8 days later from Singapore into T1 and intend to stay 5 days in Shanghai before departing for the UK from T2, Would I qualify fro the 144 hour visa?
Thank you for your help. appreciated.

A1, Your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you will be covered by this scheme. Please, just use correct terminology because this is visa free transit and there is no visa of any kind. Since you will have to change the terminals, you will approach transit counter (desk) upon your arrival into Shanghai where you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport (terminal). Here you will present your flight tickets and I recommend you to have the printouts because of easier handling. This application is for free. You will be granted one and you will exit the airport and spend your time in the way you like until your afternoon departure from Shanghai.

A2, Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and again, please use the wording 144 hour visa free transit and not 144 hour visa because there is no visa of any kind. So, upon landing into Shanghai, you will again approach the transit counter, apply for a permit and then exit the airport to enjoy your 5 days there, visa free. It is advisable to have a hotel booking confirmation for, at least the first overnight, also in a printout form.

Enjoy your visa free journeys.
