ID verification for bullet train

Hi,

When booking a ticket for the Beijing-Datong bullet train as a foreign passport holder, do I still need to go to a ticket office at the station to verify my ID before travel? Or can I just show my passport to board the train? Does this depend on the platform through which I book the ticket? Thanks!

No, you don't need to. You can just show your passport to board the train. It doesn't matter booking through which platform.
