return or round trip ticket for L-visa

Hello,

I am looking to book a trip to south China and northern Vietnam. I am trying to figure out how to best apply for an L-tourist visa to China and it says that I must have a round-trip ticket for my application. My preference would be to book a journey that flies to Guangzhou, from there to Hanoi and then back home. Would this type of multi stop visit be eligible for a L visa application? Many thanks.
