Kunming to Luang Prabang vis China-Laos Railway

Do I qualify for the 72 hours Transit Visa if flying from Bangkok to Kunming then to Luang Prabang by train?

Unfortunately, taking a train immediately disqualifies you from 144 hour visa free transit eligibility. You are allowed only to fly under this visa free transit scheme as far as Kunming area is concerned.
