About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Shenzhen airport transit

I am a British citizen who will be travelling from Vietnam to England with a 9 hour layover in Shenzhen. Unfortunately, my flight is a self-transfer which means that I will need to collect my luggage in Shenzhen and check-in again. The information found online is very conflicting. Would appreciate it if you could let me know whether I can transit through Shenzhen visa-free or not.

Thank you,
Sadaf

You can do that only if you are traveling on Shenzhen Airlines because they are only aware that Shenzhen offers 24 hour visa free transit policy and others do not because for some reason the Timatic is not yet updated with this fact. So, if you are flying with Shenzhen Airlines, you will be fine and if not, I do not recommend taking this flight option via Shenzhen.

So, when you arrive in Shenzhen you will immediately approach 24/144 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. This application is for free and you will just present a ticket for your flight to UK. You will be granted a temporary entry permit and you will proceed through immigration in order to perform the formalities necessary for the continuation of your journey to UK.
