Visiting end of Jan. 2024

How's the weather Jan? How do we pay for everything local? Can I set up Alipay in advance without linking my personal financial info? Also, will my phone work with Norde VPN or without VPN if I add international access. Any good translating/map apps to use there for translation/maps besides Google? Is the metro easy to figure out if you are used to commuting on subways? And best local souveniers to grabe in Shanghai. Thanks all.

According to the weather forecast, it may be rainy and cloudy in January in Shanghai and the temperature keeps 3-15C. It is suggested to prepare some warm clothes. You can fay for by Alipay, WeChat Pay, and cash. Credit cards can also be used in hotels and large shopping malls, but not available in small stores. For translation and map, you may use Youdao, Bing, and Baidu. Metro is very convenient and there are English signs. As for souvenirs, I think silk product is a nice choice.
