About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Should I apply for 24 or 72 hour permit?

I am British and flying from London to Guangzhou on 2 December (I am supposed to arrive in Guangzhou on the 3rd at 17: 15), then from Guangzhou to Auckland on 4 December. Initially, I was supposed to have a 21 hours layover, but the departure time for the flight from Guangzhou to Auckland has been changed to 17:55, so now the time between the scheduled arrival and scheduled departure is 24 hours and 40 minutes. Would it be recommended to apply for the 72 hours permit instead? Do I have to register with the police? Thank you very much.

Corina, this is not a problem at all. Since you are a citizen of eligible country, your stay, longer than 24 hours, will be covered by 144 hour visa free transit. Please, have in mind that it is 144 hour visa free transit in Guangzhou and not 72 hours! Also, this is not a permit, but just visa free transit. All you have to do is to approach 144 hour visa free transit counter upon your landing in Guangzhou where you will present your onward ticket to Auckland and your accommodation booking confirmation because it is logical that you will sleep in a hotel during those 24+ hours. After a short check, you will be allowed to exit the airport and to enjoy your stay in Guangzhou. You do not need to do anything with a police. A hotel will do a registration for you.
