About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layovers UK China Thailand

So we are flying from the UK to Chengdu, then to Phuket. The airline have provided us a hotel and a taxi to the hotel, will I need to apply for a visa for this? Total layover: 17 hours

On the way back we fly, Phuket to Beijing, Beijing to London, total layover: 12 hours (Will not leave airport...)

Do I need to apply for any visa or can it all be done at the airport on arrival

Both segments of your flight itinerary are perfectly eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Just one detail... When you land in Chengdu, since you plan to leave the airport, your first move will be to approach 24/144 hour visa free transit where you will apply for a temporary entry permit where you will present your flight itinerary and also present the fact that you have an overnight in a hotel. This application is for free. After the permit is granted, you will proceed to the immigration and to your hotel to explore the city at your own pace.

The two itineraries are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit and you can apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport counter to get out of the airport.
