About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Chengdu

Hello, I want to know whether I am eligible for a 6 Day to Chengdu without applying a China visa

I will fly from Adelaide to Hong Kong on Feb 6 2024, then fly from Hong Kong to Chengdu on Feb 21, return to Hong Kong on Feb 26. This is within 144 hours (6 ) days. Then will fly back to Adelaide on Mar 1st. Can I get the 144 hours free transit without applying a China visa ? Thanks

Here we have a problem because you cannot depart from Hong Kong to Chengdu and then return to Hong Kong. This is not a transit because transit requires 3 different countries or eligible territories, i.e. A (Hong Kong), B (mainland China) and C (some 3rd country or eligible territory).

However, you can make just a tiny change in your itinerary and you will be eligible:

Hong Kong - Chengdu - Macau

As you can see, this itinerary fulfills all the criteria for 144 hour visa free transit and you can really visit and explore Chengdu and surrounding areas absolutely visa free. After you have returned to Macau you will easily transfer to Hong Kong...
