About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Shenzhen Airport Transit visa

Hello, I am a British passport holder who will be travelling with my 8 year old daughter who is a British and Thai passport holder, going to the UK from Thailand via Shenzhen. The layover is 17 hrs 5 min. Will we face any difficulties if we are coming from Thailand as Thais cannot get this visa? I'll make sure not to show her Thai passport, but I put down my residence as in Thailand when booking the ticket. So worried this will cause some problems with the immigration officer who might demand to ask for her thai passport. Also we will have to self transit our bags so we will have to leave the transit area to collect them. How will we do this if we are denied a visa? Also are there any documents I need to prepare? Do they ask for things like financial records? Or, as I am travelling without my wife, will they ask to see her permission papers for me to travel with my daughter?

The fact is that practically all the nationalities qualify for 24 hour visa free transit via mainland China, so the problem is not any citizenship or in other words, both UK and Thai passports are equally accepted. However, here we have another problem... After Timatic, that is the tool used by airlines to determine the formal eligibility of travelers, still says that Shenzhen airport does not support 24 hour visa free transit scheme... In reality, it does, but this detail is still present in un-updated Timatic, so you could face rejection at check-in in Thailand unless if you are flying all your journey by Shenzhen Airlines because they are perfectly informed about this and they will gladly allow you to enjoy your travel and to cross Shenzhen airport based on 24 hour visa free transit scheme.
