About:How to Apply a China Visa in Hong Kong

Hong Kong born US passport holder applying a Chinese tourist Visa denied

I was born in Hong Kong, also a US passport holder. I want to travel to China in March 2024. I spoke to two travel agencies in the USA but was told that my application would be denied because China would not issue any L Visa to their own Chinese citizen since I was born in Hong Kong.
Is that true that if I obtain a Chinese travel permit instead of a Chinese L Visa, then I must denounce my US citizen?

Well, you are an American passport holder, and you need to obtain a Chinese visa. I guess these agencies must get something wrong. The travel permit is only issued to Chinese citizens overseas.
