Do I need a flight ticket to a third-party country if I as a German gay want to stay in Shenzhen for 5 days only, thanks

If you are going to apply for the Shenzhen 5-day voa, it is not needed. If you plan to take advantage of the 144-hour visa free transit, a ticket ticket to a thrid country will be needed.
