About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is my trip eligible for the 72 hour layover

South Korea --> Beijing --> Hong Kong
I have a US passport and my friend has a Mexican passport.

Yes, you are eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit as long as you don't have any other stop in China.
