About:How to Apply a China Visa in Hong Kong

Express tourist visa for China from HK

I am Chinese Australian, living in South Africa. I need to get a single entry tourist visa to visit my family for CNY in February 2024. should I go straight to the visa office or do it through an agency? Will I be able to get it within 2 working days?

You'd better apply for the visa from where you live. If you are only a tourist in HK, the success rate to get one is low. It usually takes 4 working days to process the visa if all documents are submitted. The rush or express service taking 2-3 working days requires additional charge.

Thank you Olivia for your reply, South Africa has a backlog of all their visas, my spousal renewal has not come through. The Chinese embassy wont give me a visa if I dont have a current Spousal visa in my passport. My family can get it as they are South African, but thats why I will have to get it in HK. otherwise I have to travel back to australia and then China.

I suggest you wait for a while. As you will travel in next February, you can apply in December and at least January. Maybe by then you will get the SA spousal visa and then can apply in SA.
