U.S. citizen traveling from Korea to Hainan

Do I need to book with a Hainan travel agency because all airlines fly into China first with a stay over waiting period before flying to Hainan to prevent any visa issues while waiting in China for flight to Hainan.

If you have any stop in other Chinese cities, then you are not eligible for the 30-day visa-free access. It requires a direct flight from abroad to Hainan.
