can use the 144 hour transit visa for this?

Your itinerary is fine for 144 hours transit without visa. Note that it is not a transit visa, but a transit without visa, or visa-free transit. At the airport the airline will check your documents and you must inform them that you are using the "144 hours transit without visa" facility. Use these words because this is what it says in the airline's system. They may also check again at boarding. You don't need to do anything in advance of travel.
