About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Eligible route

Hi,
I am travelling from Malaysia to Guangzhou (for 3 days) by flight then onward to Hong Kong by train. I have a British passport. Is this route eligible for visa free transit?
Thanks.

Hi, it it not eligible to take a train to Hong Kong. However, if you change it to a ferry or a flight, there is no problem to use 144-hour visa-free transit.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Do you know I can purchase a ferry ticket online?

Thanks!

Yes, you will have to have a ferry ticket in your hands even before you approach check-in in Malaysia. You are suggested to buy your ferry ticket from either Nansha port (located south from Guangzhou) or Shekou in Shenzhen to Hong Kong. These routes are operated by CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport and you can buy the ticket on their website. Please, print out that ticket and have it with you. Also, you will have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.

Hi, I have bought a ferry ticket from GZ to HK via their official wechat channel. They have provided a receipt and QR code to collect actual ticket on the day of travel. This means I cannot print out the ticket on hand for when I arrive in GZ. Would it be OK to print out the receipt and show them the QR instead?

I think you can print out both the order information and receipt for peace of mind.
