About:Overstaying in China & Penalty

Someone’s visa expired in haikou a year ago , wanna do jail time in Beijing

I wonder is it okay to go to Beijing to do jail time . Is it either or problem , if he pays for the fine of 10,000 , he can do less time ? Or if he has to do jail , he doesn’t wanna pay the fine . Does anyone know ? I called the police station PSB , they won’t tell me

Generally, the detention happens in the local police station. The fine and the time of detention will both be decided by the local police.
