About:10-year China Visa

Canadian appying from a different country.

We are Canadian passport holders whose passports will expire in Oct. 2026, so I do understand our tourist visa will expire on that date. My question concerns applying from a country other than Canada. We will be in Vietnam for 8 months before our planned China trip. Is it possible to make a visa appointment at the Chinese consulate, say in Hanoi, instead of Canada?

It's possible to get a visa in Vietnam if you have a resident permit of that country. But it is very likely to be a short term visa valid for 3 or 6 months, instead of a long-term one valid for years.
