UK to Shenzen - Visa Application

Hello,
I wish to visit Shenzen from HK, and hold a British passport UK London.

Do I obtain my visa first before booking my flights from London to HK or book flight first in order to reference the dates on the Visa application?

If you need to apply for a visa, then booking a flight first. You don't have to pay for it at once, and just make a reservation.
