About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hours transit, luggage

Hi, I am a Hungarian passport holder and will go to Indonesia with a 12 hours layover in Shanghai. Can I get the 24 hours free transit? Also if I want to go out and see the city, do I need to collect my luggage? (both of my flights, Hungary-China and China-Indonesia are with the same airlines, China Eastern) Taking the same airlines in a connected flight I usually don't have to collect my luggage, but is this different in this case? The last question is, do I need a hotel reservation? I arrive at 5:00 and leave at 17:00 so it makes no sense to stay anywhere.

First, you are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit.

Second, you don't have to collect your luggage. Upon landing, go to the 24/144-hour visa free transit center to obtain a temporary entry permit, you will then be allowed to enter the city. It is free of charge.

Third, NO, you don't need any hotel reservation and this is not necessary.
