Hi, I will be travelling from London Gatwick (CA848) to Tokyo Narita (CA929). What are the procedures at PVG?

When checking in at the initial departure airport, ask the staff if you need to claim your luggage and do the transit procedures at PVG.

If yes, the procedure will be: PVG arrival - head to the transit area - finish the transit procedures (claim luggage, recheck and others) - board the connecting flight

If no, the procedure will be: PVG arrival - head to the transit area - find the boarding gate - board the connecting flight
