About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

If I fly from USA and connect via Hong Kong on way to Shanghai, , which city counts as my departure

for the 144 hours visa free transit program.

Hong Kong. It is always the last place you land before you fly to mainland China, even if you don't leave the airport (and also if you don't even leave the aircraft).
