About:Marriage Registration in China

Marriage with different passport

Hello, thank you for the detailed info.
I would start work in China in August 2023 on a German passport, that means, my Z visa would be stamped in that passport. However I am also holding a Hungarian passport and we want to get married with my Chinese partner in China.
In Germany the Single Status Certificate + legalization takes up to 4-5 months (at least); in Hungary however they haven't had this particular certificate for a few years now simplifying the process a lot.
Do you think it would be possible to move to China on a German passport, work and live there legally with the required stamps/stickers in that and then use the Hungarian passport to get married? Both passports could be presented together, but one (Hungarian) obviously doesn't display legal rights for me to stay there (in China), the other one (German) does. The city in question is Shanghai, with my partner having a Shanghai hukou.
Thanks for your help

If you want to get married in China, you may need to do that with your German passport, which proves your legal stay here.
