About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

What will be the best way to tour Guangzhou...

Hi, My wife and I will take Celebrity S.E. Asia cruise from HK to Sigapore thru Vietnam this coming November. We plan to sightseeing Guangzhou and nearby cities for 2-3 days, then go on cruise trip. We can fly to HK and then travel to China via high speed railway and back, or we can fly to Guangzhou(shengzeng) and then travel to HK. What will be the best way to do it visa wise with minimal hassles? I know that fly to these two Chinese cities I will be qualifying for visa free transit, but I'll have to leave at that same airport. Consider these two cities are so close to HK, is it possible to leave just by train to HK? Please help...

In my opinion, the most straightforward option would be to create the following itinerary:

Hong Kong - by plane to Guangzhou - by ferry to Macau

This itinerary will enable a travel to Guangdong province (entire province) absolutely visa free).

As you can see, you will have to fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou because this is the requirement to be able to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit. Also, you will have to buy a ferry ticket from Shenzhen port of Shekou to Macau through TurboJet website. You will have to print out that ticket and have it with you. After your exploration of Guangzhou you will really have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket.

This is the best option and when you arrive in Macau, you can just proceed toward Hong Kong without any problem be the first available ferry.

By the way, train is not an option in any direction.

Thanks a lot for the response. Do I need to buy the ferry tickets from Shekou to Macau before I depart for Hong Kong, or buy them while I am in Guangzhou, like at a hotel? Do the turboJet accept Visa credit card? For tourists like us, we do not have Ali pay/Wechat account, can we use our credit cards at restaurants or other retail shops? Thanks.

Shien Chang, you have to book your ferry ticket before your departure from Hong Kong. In other words, you have to have a hard copy of your ferry ticket at the time of your check-in in Hong Kong for your flight to Guangzhou.

You will easily book your ticket at TurboJet by using Visa credit card. Also, you will find many restaurants and retail shops that will gladly accept this same card, although not all of them. You will have to ask for this detail at the very entrance at each property just to be on the safe side.
