DOES A SPORTING TEAM NEED A VISA TO ATTEND AN EVENT IN CHINA

Yes, it does. However, sometimes the sponsor may offer some special identity registration card by which athletes can enter China without a visa. In addition to this, all teams should apply for M visas.
