About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

In 2024, can I travel visa-free on cruise visiting Tianjin port, Dalian port, and Shanghai port?

USA passport. Holland America's cruise ship arrives in Tianjin on Mar 7 (noon) from Fukuoka, Japan, sails from Shanghai to Dalian on Mar 9, and sails from Dalian to Shanghai. Ship departs from Shanghai on Mar13 (6:00pm) heading to Hong Kong.

MY error! Ship sails from Tianjin to Dalian, not from Shanghai.

As I know, only cruise entering from Shanghai can enjoy visa-free policy, so you have to apply for a China visa in advance.

Jim,

It would be the best if you could present your whole itinerary in a more transparent way in order for us to be able to offer you really a good and relevant answer. Like this, there are some doubts because you have mentioned Shanghai in some ways, but it is not exactly clear. Precise presentation is important because your ability to travel visa free depends on that. Thank you.
