About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Tokyo to Minsk via Beijing

Hello, I am Japanese passport holder and I have purchased an air ticket from Japan to Minsk via Beijing by Air China,
with a layover of approximately 20 hours at Beijing Capital Airport. I would like to know if I can utilize the 144 hour visa free transit system to leave Beijing Capital Airport.

Actually, you will enjoy 24 hour visa free transit because your totaly transit time is less than 24 hours. To be allowed to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit option, you would need a transit time longer than 24 hours.

In any case, you are advised to make a hotel accommodation booking in Beijing. After your arrival in Beijing, you will approach 24/144 hour visa free transit desk where you will apply, for free, for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport and to have a rest in your accommodation. After a short check, you will be granted a permit and you will be allowed to exit the airport.
